Seventeen days of “Project 365″ – remind me why I’m doing this again? Oh yeah, taking at least one photo a day for a whole year is supposed to develop my photographic “vision”! Well, I suppose I can’t expect too much too soon.

This afternoon Trina and I took a walk looking for stuff to shoot. The light was getting low but I still had just enough to grab this – with a bit of flash to help keep it sharp. I’m grasping for straws here but, I suppose that’s the idea – break down the walls.

I heard a quote this morning but, I didn’t write it down and now I wish I had. It goes something like this, “Focus on the details and leave the obvious to the imagination.” It perfectly describes one of my problems as a photographer – I usually include too much of a scene in my photos. I need to focus in on the details and let the rest take care of itself.

Project List

What sort of projects should I work on? Here are a few ideas I’ve heard over the past few days:

  • Take a photo a day for a year
  • Leading lines

Ok, so its a short list! I’ll try to expand on it over the next few days.

UPDATE: No need to add any more project ideas. I’m going with the project that will exercise my left brain the most – taking photos each and every day for the next year. I’m allowed to take as many photos as I want and to use any camera I want – including my cell phone – but, to keep things honest I have to upload my favorite photo – or my only photo – to Flickr each day.
